About the Kenmore Group

The Kenmore Group is one of the largest and diverse groups in Papua New Guinea. We currently employ approximately 1200 staff and have sales in excess of K300 million annually. Todays Kenmore Group resulted from the merger of two similarly diverse corporate entities in 1991.

A merger in 1991 of the original Kenmore Group and the Dylup Group of Companies created what is now the Kenmore Group.

The original Kenmore Group was founded over thirty years ago when our Chairman Dr. Lucio C. Tan was invited to invest in Papua New Guinea and started the Melanesian Tobacco in Lae. Over the years further investments were made in the Rumion piggery, in Atlas Steel and in property. Initially the Property Investments were at Six Mile, and then later Ela Beach Tower was built and other residential and commercial units acquired.

The Dylup Group can trace its origin back to the Pacific Taxi Service. During the sixties and early seventies the original business grew and a motor dealership was started which became known as PNG Motors.

During this period new businesses were started , these included Daikin (air-conditioning) and PNG Air Freight (TNT Air Cargo). In the time leading up to the Independence of Papua New Guinea in 1975 the business changed ownership and name on more than one occasion.

In 1986 the various businesses, which were by then known as the PNG Associated Industries, were purchased by Dylup Investment Corporation Limited. From then until the merger with Kenmore Group, the core businesses expanded and new businesses were introduced. Some of the more successful new businesses include First Investment Finance Ltd. and Trans Melanesian Airways Ltd (Wridgways PNG).

In 1991 the majority shareholders of the Dylup Group accepted an offer from the owner of the original Kenmore Group and the foundation was laid for the creation of the Kenmore Group as we know it.

Today the Kenmore Group of Companies has six main operating divisions. Namely: Property, Industrial, Automotive, Transport, Agriculture, Finance and an Administration Division located on the top level of Ela Beach Tower in downtown Port Moresby.

The continued growth and success of the Kenmore Group is dependent on three factors:

  • the provision of quality goods and services at competitive prices to our customers
  • the continuing support of our investors and
  • the commitment of our staff.

This first factor is our major focus.

If you require further details or information about our Group (or the goods and services we provide) please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for taking the time and showing the interest to our Group. Hopefully our website would be of use to you.
